What’s Open, Closed on Presidents’ Day; MBTA on Saturday Schedule

Today, Monday, Feb. 19 is Presidents’ Day, although the federal government still refers to it as “Washington’s Birthday” to honor the country’s first president.

  • Belmont town offices: Closed
  • Belmont Schools: Closed (it’s winter recess.)
  • Belmont Public Library: Closed
  • Beech Street Center: Closed
  • US Post Offices: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Retail stores and restaurants: Open
  • Supermarkets: Open

Trash/recycling collection is delayed by one day due to the holiday, i.e. if you are on a Monday schedule, it will be collected on Tuesday.

The MBTA is running on a reduced weekend schedule. Commuter rail will operate on a Saturday schedule, while buses will run on a modified Saturday schedule. Go to the MBTA’s events web page for more information.
